    중형저서동물 (Meiofauna)과 동물플랑크톤의 다양성을 연구하며 우리나라만이 아니라 다양한 해양환경에 서식하는 중형저서동물과 동물플랑크톤을 채집하고, 신종, 미기록종 발표, Population 간 분자적 분화(speciation) 정도를 알아보기 위해 유전자 비교를 실시하여 Cryptic species를 발견하는 연구를 하고 있습니다.

- 국내외 신종, 미기록 종 발굴 및 생물자원의 보전 연구
- 중형저서동물 및 동물플랑크톤 다양성 연구
   Foraminifera / Hydromedusae / Copepoda
- 형태 및 유전자 분석을 통한 계통 진화학적 연구
- 현생유공충 자원 확보와 관리를 위한 해양유공충자원 기탁등록보존기관 운영
